Stipendienprogramme

• Ein Stipendienprogramm für junge deutschsprachige Autor·innen (nicht in Berlin lebend), gefördert von der Berliner Senatsverwaltung für Kultur, der Schweizer Kulturstiftung Pro Helvetia und dem österreichischen Bundeskanzleramt. Bis zu 3 Monate, Ausschreibung jährlich im Herbst.
• Ein Einladungsprogramm für internationale Autor·innen, gefördert vom Auswärtigen Amt. Bis zu 15 einmonatige Stipendien pro Jahr.
• Das Albrecht-Lempp-Stipendium für polnische Schriftsteller·innen und Literaturübersetzer·innen aus dem Deutschen; in Zusammenarbeit mit der Stiftung für Deutsch-Polnische Zusammenarbeit und dem Buchinstitut Krakau. Ein einmonatiges Stipendium pro Jahr. Ausschreibung in der Regel zu Jahresbeginn.
• TOLEDO-Mobilitätsfonds: Einmonatige Residenzstipendien für Literaturübersetzer·innen aus dem Deutschen. Ausschreibung in der Regel am Jahresende.
• Schritte-Stipendien der S. Fischer Stiftung für Übersetzer·innen deutschsprachiger Literatur aus der Türkei, aus Polen, Belarus, der Ukraine sowie den Ländern Südosteuropas. Einmonatige Aufenthalte; Ausschreibung jährlich im Herbst.
• Mit einigen internationalen Partnerorganisationen sind regelmäßige Kooperationen verabredet. Eigene Ausschreibungen für LCB-Aufenthalte bieten derzeit die Taiwan Literature Foundation (für taiwanische Autor·innen) und das Brüsseler Literaturhaus PassaPorta (für flämische Autor·innen) an. Gut etabliert haben sich Kooperationen mit den Gastländern der Frankfurter Buchmesse wie Kanada oder Slowenien, die Veranstaltungsprogramme mit LCB-Residenzen für ihre Autor·innen verbinden.
• Auch selbstfinanzierte Aufenthalte (1.000 Euro / Monat) sind je nach Verfügbarkeit möglich.

Im Sommer 2023 wurde die Villa of One’s Own (VOOO) eröffnet, ein neuer digitaler Werkstattraum für Gäste im Haus und im Netz, für Übersetzer∙innen und Autor∙innen aus aller Welt. VOOO bietet Platz für kollaborative Recherchen, gemeinsame Arbeiten, sozialen Austausch und Präsentationen – ob als Materialtisch, Küchengespräch oder im Livestream. VOOO wird Labor, transformierender Geist und das digitale Herz des Hauses.

fellowship programs

• A fellowship program for young German-language authors (not living in Berlin), funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture, the Swiss cultural foundation Pro Helvetia, and the Austrian Federal Chancellery. Up to 3 months, call for proposals annually in autumn.
• An invitation program for international authors, supported by the German Foreign Ministry. Up to 15 one-month fellowships per year.
• The Albrecht Lempp Fellowship for Polish writers and literary translators from German; in cooperation with the Foundation for German-Polish Cooperation and the Book Institute in Krakow. One month-long scholarship per year. Call for applications is ususally at the beginning of the year
• TOLEDO Mobility Fund: One-month residency grants for literary translators from German. Call for applications usually at the end of the year.
• Schritte-Fellowships, funded by S. Fischer Foundation – for translators of German literature from Turkey, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and the countries of Southeastern Europe. One-month stays; call for applications annually in the autumn.
• Regular cooperations are arranged with different international partner organisations. The Taiwan Literature Foundation (for Taiwanese authors) and the Brussels literary house PassaPorta (for Flemish authors) currently offer their own calls for LCB residencies. Cooperations with the Frankfurt Book Fair’s guest-of-honour-countries r such as Canada or Slovenia, which combine event programs with LCB residencies for their authors, are well established.
• Self-financed residencies (1,000 euros / month) are also possible, depending on availability.

In summer 2023 the “Villa of One’s Own” (VOOO) opened, a new digital workshop space for in-house and online guests, translators and authors from around the world. VOOO offers space for collaborative research, joint work, social exchange, and presentations – whether as a materials table, kitchen conversation, or livestream. VOOO will become a laboratory, a transforming spirit, and the digital heart of the house.
