Agnieszka Wolny-Hamkało, geboren 1979 in Wrocław, ist Dichterin, Literaturkritikerin und Publizistin, ihre Artikel erschienen u. a. in der Tageszeitung »Gazeta Wyborcza«. Sie veröffentlichte bislang acht Gedichtbände, zuletzt »Panama smile« bei WBPiCAK (Poznań, 2017). Ihre Gedichte wurden bereits ins Deutsche, Japanische, Englische, Serbische, Chinesische und Spanische übersetzt. Während ihres Stipendienaufenthaltes mit freundlicher Unterstützung des Auswärtigen Amts arbeitet sie an einem neuen Gedichtband über Berlin sowie einer Kurzgeschichte, die sich mit der mythischen Figur des Golems auseinandersetzt.

»breaking the loneliness of writing«

What are you working on at the moment?
I’m working on a new book with poems, in which I’m exploring disintegration of contemporary city and identity.

How does your stay in the Literary Colloquium Berlin affect you and your work?
Berlin – as one of the most interesting European capitals and symbol of progressive culture – is very important for my work. Contrast between eclectic history of Wannsee and inspiring patchwork of the center is making great voltage. LCB gives me capabilities to observe it at close range and it’s a special place to work. Makes me feel a part of a community, breaking the loneliness of writing.

What experiences will you take home?
I will take home new poems and a great experience from the kitchen, when you can talk about literature while peeling potatos.
