Festival REWRITING THE MAP III

REWRITING THE MAP – III

Festival: Literature and Urbanism in divided Cities
Panel 3 Transactions · Panel 4 Translations · Readings /performances · Dancefloor – DJ Bad Puppy

From 25th to 27th July 2019, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Literary Colloquium Berlin is organising a festival dedicated to the literature, art and urban planning in divided cities of Europe. With the focus on Belfast, Berlin, Mostar and Nicosia, we would like to reflect upon and discuss the interplay of the specific spatial complexions of those cities and the art that emerges from them. Together with writers, architects, urban planners, historians, performance artists and other experts and creatives, we would like to look at these specific urban areas from different perspectives and shed light on the impact of inner-city borders on collective perception and memory, its socio-economic impacts and the ways in which these borders are being maintained but also crossed, transgressed or dismantled.
