Viktorie Hanišová, born in Prague in 1980, is a prose writer and translator. She studied English and German at the Charles University in Prague. She made her debut in 2015 with the highly acclaimed novel “Anežka”, in which she deals with the dysfunctional relationship between a mother and her stepdaughter, also with covert and overt racism and social stereotypes. Her second novel followed in 2018, “Houbařka” (Mushroom sampler), dealing with childhood trauma and domestic violence. The novel “Rekonstrukce” (Reconstruction) concludes the trilogy on motherhood. In autumn, “Dlouhá trať” (Long Distance) will be published, gathering stories on the subject of suicide.
Viktorie Hanišová, 1980 in Prag geboren, ist Prosaautorin und Übersetzerin. An der Prager Karls-Universität studierte sie Anglistik und Germanistik. 2015 debütierte sie mit dem in Tschechien viel beachteten Roman »Anežka« (2019 ins Deutsche unter demselben Titel übersetzt), in dem sie die dysfunktionale Beziehung einer Mutter und ihrer Stieftochter, verdeckte und offene Rassismus so wie gesellschaftliche Stereotypen thematisiert. 2018 folgte der zweite Roman, »Houbařka« (Pilzsamlerin), über kindliche Traumata und häusliche Gewalt. Der Roman »Rekonstrukce« (Rekonstruktion) beschließt die freie Trilogie, die das Thema der Mutterschaft als eine Art roter Faden durchzieht. Im Herbst erscheinen ihre Erzählungen zum Thema Selbstmord unter dem Titel »Dlouhá trať« (Langstrecke).
