Urmilla Deshpande’s works include novels “A Pack of Lies and Kashmir Blues”, short story collections “Slither” and “Body and Blood”. She has received a Crossing Borders/Robert Bosch Stiftung grant to do research for her current project, a novel based on her grandmother, anthropologist Irawati Karve. The novel is set in Berlin in the 1920s where Irawati did her PhD.

Urmilla Deshpande, geboren 1963 in den USA, ist eine indische Schriftstellerin und wissenschaftliche Redakteurin. Zu ihren Veröffentlichungen zählen die Romane »A Pack of Lies« (2009), »Kashmir Blues« (2010) und »Equal to Angels« (2017) sowie die Erzählbände »Slither: Carnal Prose« (2012) und »Body and Blood« (2019). Sie lebt und schreibt in Tallahassee, USA, und wurde durch das Grenzgänger-Programm der Robert Bosch Stiftung gefördert.
