Mirtenbaum was born in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, in 1993. He studied Law, Sociology and Acting, and writes poetry and essays. His mother was part of the punk-anarchist movement Hausbesetzung [Squatting] in Berlin. His father was a consultant for political and social movements, among them the Socialist Party in Bolivia. Nakai Mirtenbaum is also a co-founder of Ríos de Pie, a non-violent movement dedicated to the struggle for civil rights in Bolivia.
