Fernanda Melchor, born in Veracruz, Mexico, in 1982, is a writer and journalist who lives and works in Puebla. In 2013, she published a collection of short stories and a novel: “Aqui no es Miami” and “Falsa liebre” (both with Almadia). She has published fiction and nonfiction short stories and novels in publications as The Paris Review, Le Monde Diplomatique, Vice Latinoamérica and Vanity Fair Latinoamerica, among others. In 2018, she won the PEN Mexico Award for Literary and Journalistic Excellence. In 2019, she was awarded with the Anna Seghers Prize and the International Literature Award of the HKW (German for House of World Cultures) for “Hurricane Season” (2017).
Fernanda Melchor, 1982 im mexikanischen Bundesstaat Veracruz geboren, schreibt Romane und Reportagen. Sie lebt in Puebla und gilt als die talentierteste Autorin ihrer Generation. 2019 wurde sie für »Saison der Wirbelstürme« mit dem Anna-Seghers-Preis und dem Internationalen Literaturpreis des Haus der Kulturen der Welt ausgezeichnet. 2020 nahm sie am Projekt »Literatur von See zu See – Mexiko-Stadt / Berlin« teil: In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Kultur- und Literaturzentrum Casa del Lago und dem Goethe-Institut in Mexiko-Stadt hat das LCB vier deutsche sowie vier mexikanische Autorinnen eingeladen, sich in kurzen Essays mit den Bedingungen des Schreibens und dem Zweck von Literatur auseinanderzusetzen.
