Enrique S. Villasis is a poet and a scriptwriter, born in Milagros, Masbate, Philippines. His first book of poems, “Agua”, contains poems that won the 2011, 2012, and 2014 Don Carlos Palanca Awards and the 2011 Maningning Miclat Poetry Competition. It was a finalist for the National Book Awards. He is currently working on his second collection of poems that are based on Vicente S. Manansala’s paintings. His poem “Birds in Flight, 1965” translated by Bernard Capinpin was one of the four winners of Words Without Borders’s 2020 Poems in Translation Contest.  He currently lives in Quezon City and writes television shows for ABS-CBN. In March 2021, he took part in the Leiria Poetry Festival, which was co-organized in Portugal by Mirna Queiroz, editor-in-chief of Revista Pessoa.

Enrique S. Villasis ist Dichter und Drehbuchautor, geboren in Milagros, Masbate, Philippinen. Sein erster Gedichtband »Agua« enthält Gedichte, die 2011, 2012 und 2014 mit dem Don Carlos Palanca Award ausgezeichnet wurden und mit denen er 2011 die Maningning Miclat Poetry Competition gewann. Er war unter den Finalists der National Book Awards. Derzeit arbeitet er an seiner zweiten Gedichtsammlung, die auf den Gemälden von Vicente S. Manansala basiert. Mit seinem Gedicht »Birds in Flight, 1965«, übersetzt von Bernard Capinpin, war er einer von vier Gewinner·innen des Poems in Translation Contest 2020 von Words Without Borders. Er lebt derzeit in Quezon City und schreibt Fernsehsendungen für ABS-CBN. Im März 2021 nahm er am Leiria Poetry Festival teil, das in Portugal von Mirna Queiroz, Chefredakteurin der Revista Pessoa, mitorganisiert wurde.
