Jeton Neziraj

Jeton Neziraj is a playwright and the director of Qendra Multimedia, a cultural organization based in Prishtina, Kosovo, with main focus in contemporary theater and literature. He has written over twenty-five plays that have been staged, translated, and published widely in Europe and the USA. The German theatre magazine Theater der Zeit and the German radio station Deutschlandfunk Kultur described him as “Kafka of the Balkans,” while the Los Angeles Times called him “a world-class playwright who challenges our complacency at every twist and turn.” The POSTWEST festival will present his play “The Return of Karl May (Entertaining play for the German people),” written by Jeton Neziraj and directed by Blerta Neziraj. It is a co-production between Qendra Multimedia, the National Theatre of Kosovo and the Volksbühne Berlin.

Jeton Neziraj ist Dramatiker und künstlerischer Leiter von Qendra Multimedia, einer kulturellen Organisation mit Sitz in Prishtina, Kosovo. Ihr Schwerpunkt liegt im zeitgenössischen Theater und in der Literatur. Aus Nezirajs Feder stammen über 25 Theaterstücke, die in Europa und den USA inszeniert, übersetzt und in großem Umfang veröffentlicht wurden. Das deutsche Theatermagazin Theater der Zeit und der Deutschlandfunk Kultur bezeichneten ihn als „Kafka des Balkans“, die Los Angeles Times nannte ihn „einen Dramatiker von Weltrang, der unsere Bequemlichkeit bei jeder Wendung herausfordert“. Für das Festival POSTWEST entsteht »The Return of Karl May (Entertaining play for the German people)« , geschrieben von Jeton Neziraj und inszeniert von Blerta Neziraj, eine Koproduktion zwischen Qendra Multimedia, dem National Theatre of Kosovo und der Volksbühne Berlin.
