Alison Entrekin

Alison Entrekin is an Australian literary translator from the Brazilian Portuguese. She has translated many of Brazil’s most beloved writers, including Clarice Lispector, Chico Buarque and José Mauro de Vasconcelos and is currently working on a new translation of “Grande Sertão: Veredas” by João Guimarães Rosa with support from Itaú Cultural. In 2019 she won the NSW Premier’s Translation Prize and PEN medallion in Australia for the body of her work. After 24 years in Brazil, she has recently returned to her native Australia.

Alison Entrekin ist eine australische literarische Übersetzerin aus dem brasilianischen Portugiesisch. Sie hat viele der beliebtesten Schriftsteller·innen Brasiliens übersetzt, darunter Clarice Lispector, Chico Buarque und José Mauro de Vasconcelos, und arbeitet derzeit an einer Neuübersetzung von »Grande Sertão: Veredas« von João Guimarães Rosa mit Unterstützung von Itaú Cultural. Für ihr Gesamtwerk wurde sie 2019 in Australien mit dem NSW Premier’s Translation Prize und der PEN-Medaille ausgezeichnet.
