Yuko Chigira

Yuko Chigira is an author, actress and director of the theater collective “Swanny”, which she founded in Tokyo in 2011. She is a playwright and also writes short stories, like “Maggie, the cat killer”, published in 2018 in the German anthology “Von Katzentötern, schwebenden Rauchern und der Suche nach Nilpferden” (On Cat Slayers, Floating Smokers and the Search for Hippos) edited by Elena Giannoulis by the publishing house be.bra Verlag. She lived in Germany in 2018/19, as part of the Crossing Borders program of the Robert Bosch Foundation and the LCB.

Yuko Chigira ist Autorin, Schauspielerin und Leiterin des Theaterensembles »Swanny«, das sie 2011 in Tokyo gründete. Sie studierte in Tokyo und schrieb zahlreiche Kurzgeschichten und Theatertexte. 2018 erschien erstmals eine deutsche Übersetzung ihrer Kurzgeschichte »Maggie, the cat killer« in der von Elena Giannoulis herausgegebenen Anthologie »Von Katzentötern, schwebenden Rauchern und der Suche nach Nilpferden« im bebra Verlag. 2018/19 hielt sie sich im Rahmen des Grenzgänger-Programms der Robert Bosch Stiftung und des LCB in Deutschland auf.
