Victoria Lomasko

Victoria Lomasko, born in 1978 in Serpukhov, graduated in 2003 from the Moscow State University of Printing Arts, where she majored in graphic art and book design. She now works as a graphic artist, with a particular focus on graphic reportage. In her work, Lomasko explores current Russian society, especially the inner workings of the country’s diverse communities and groups, such as Russian Orthodox believers, LGBT activists, underage prostitutes, migrant workers, sex workers, and collective farm workers. As a graphic reportage artist, she has collaborated with both the mass media and human rights organizations. In 2017, she published the book “Other Russias” in English. She is co-author of the book “Forbidden Art”, nominated for the Kandinsky Prize in 2010, and has also co-curated two major art exhibitions, “The Feminist Pencil” and “Drawing the Court”. Her work has been exhibited in numerous shows in Russia and abroad. She lives in Moscow.

Viktoria Lomasko, geboren 1978 in Serpuchow, studierte Grafikdesign an der Moskauer Staatlichen Universität für Druckwesen. Sie arbeitet als freiberufliche Zeichnerin und Grafikerin mit Schwerpunkt auf grafische Reportage. In ihrer Arbeit setzt sich Lomasko mit der aktuellen russischen Gesellschaft auseinander, insbesondere mit den inneren Funktionsweisen der verschiedenen Gemeinschaften und Gruppen des Landes, wie russisch-orthodoxe Gläubige, LGBT-Aktivist·innen, minderjährige Prostituierte, Wanderarbeiter·innen, Sexarbeiterinnen und Landarbeiter·innen in Kolchosen. Als grafische Reportagekünstlerin hat sie sowohl mit den Massenmedien als auch mit Menschenrechtsorganisationen zusammengearbeitet. Im Jahr 2017 veröffentlichte sie das Buch »Other Russias« in englischer Sprache. Sie ist Mitautorin des Buches »Verbotene Kunst«, das 2010 für den Kandinsky Prize nominiert wurde und 2013 auf Deutsch im Verlag Matthes & Seitz Berlin erschienen ist, und hat außerdem zwei große Kunstausstellungen mitkuratiert: »The Feminist Pencil« und »Drawing the Court«. Ihre Arbeiten wurden in zahlreichen Ausstellungen in Russland und im Ausland gezeigt. Sie lebt in Moskau.
