Olga Sánchez Guevara

Olga Sánchez Guevara is an author and translator. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in German Language from the University of Havana. Her essays and articles were featured on Revista Mexicana de Cultura, Antenas, Revolución y cultura, and La letra del escriba, among other publications, as well as on www.cubaliteraria.cu and www.cubarte.cu. She is currently in the process of publishing a book of essays, “Las palabras son puentes,” with Editorial José Martí. As a translator, she received awards in Cuba and Austria. She has translated several authors to Spanish, including Else Lasker-Schüler, Marie-Thérèse Kerschbaumer, Friederike Mayröcker, Hans Raimund, Cecília Meireles, and Eugénio de Andrade. As an editor, she published “Frau in der Landschaft/Mujer ante el paisaje. Cuatro poetas austríacas” (Edition Art Science, St. Wolfgang, Austria, 2014), a bilingual poetry anthology for which she also translated the texts and wrote the prologue. In 2018, she obtained a scholarship at the Translation House Looren to complete the translation of an anthology of poetry and prose by Austrian writer Elfriede Gerstl.

Olga Sánchez Guevara ist Schriftstellerin und Übersetzerin. Sie studierte Germanistik an der Universidad de La Habana. Ihre Essays und Texte erschienen in Revista Mexicana de Cultura, Antenas, Revolución y cultura, La letra del escriba und in weiteren Periodika, so im Internet auf www.cubaliteraria.cu und www.cubarte.cu. »Cartas de la nostalgia« und zwei weitere Texte erschienen, ins Deutsche übersetzt, in der Anthologie von Erzählungen lateinamerikanischer Schriftstellerinnen »Mosaik aus dem Innersten«, in Salzburg, Österreich. Derzeit ist der Verlag Editorial José Martí im Begriff, eine Sammlung ihrer Essays »Las palabras son puentes« zu publizieren. Als Übersetzerin erhielt sie Auszeichnungen in Kuba und Österreich. Sie übersetzte u. a. Else Lasker-Schüler, Marie-Thérèse Kerschbaumer, Friederike Mayröcker, Hans Raimund, Cecília Meireles und Eugénio de Andrade ins Spanische. Als Verlegerin hat sie »Frau in der Landschaft/Mujer ante el paisaje. Cuatro poetas austríacas«, die zweisprachige Anthologie von Gedichten, übersetzt von ihr und mit einem Vorwort versehen, herausgebracht (Edition Art Science, St. Wolfgang, Österreich, 2014). Im Jahr 2018 erhielt sie ein Stipendium am Übersetzerhaus Looren, um die Übersetzung eines Gedicht- und Prosabandes der österreichischen Schriftstellerin Elfriede Gerstl zu vollenden.
