João Paulo Cuenca, born in 1978, is a Brazilian writer and filmmaker. He wrote several novels, among others “The only happy ending for a love story is an accident” (Tagus, United Kingdom, 2013). In 2015, he staged his own death in the film “A morte de J.P. Cuenca” (The Death of J.P. Cuenca), in which he was the screenplay writer, the director and the main actor. Besides, he writes columns for Deutsche Welle and has published journalistic texts at The Intercept Brasil, El País and Süddeutsche Zeitung.

João Paulo Cuenca, Jahrgang 1978, ist ein brasilianischer Schriftsteller und Filmmacher, Autor u.a. von »Das einzig glückliche Ende einer Liebesgeschichte ist ein Unfall« (A1 Verlag, 2012) und »Mastroianni. Ein Tag« (A1 Verlag, 2013). 2015 inszenierte er seinen eigenen Tod im Kino durch den von ihm geschriebenen Film »A morte de J.P. Cuenca« (J. P. Cuencas Tod), bei dem er auch Hauptdarsteller war und die Regie führte. Ferner verfasst er Kolumnen für die Deutsche Welle und veröffentlichte journalistische Texte bei The Intercept Brasil, El País und Süddeutsche Zeitung.
